The Time of Your Lives was created from sheer passion to deliver the most authentic Dance Movie experience.

Our next live event is Dirty Dancing 1963, which is a non-stop dance extravaganza, which will completely immerse you in the steps, the feeling and the passion of the smash hit movie; Dirty Dancing.

Your dance instructor and host for the day is Paul Kitson, the first British actor to play the iconic role of ‘Johnny Castle’ in the west-end show: Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story on Stage (2007).  This west-end show broke world records; debuting with £11million in advance sales – a west-end theatre record – resulting in the Aldwych Theatre having to add more seats to accommodate demand!

The Time of Your Lives event, Dirty Dancing 1963, is a phenomenal opportunity to be taught by and dance with Paul ‘Johnny’ Kitson and experience the heart-pounding rhythms, romance and that undeniable sexy and sensational dance style that is Dirty Dancing.

For fans of Dirty Dancing, you won’t get a more authentic event than this and, with limited places available for Saturday, 29 September, it is the hottest dance ticket in town!

YOUR FAVOURITE STEPS FROM THE MOVIE … Johnny’s, Baby’s, Penny’s and more!

Using Latin based steps in the Dirty Dancing style; the Mambo, Cha Cha, New Yorkers, Merengue, Jive and Locks, you will learn how to dirty dance, including all those thrusts, rotations, pulses and hip combinations from the movie as well as the actual choreography from ‘Do You Love Me!’

The movie soundtrack will feature heavily and you will dance to all the major hits you know and love; Be My Baby, Hungry Eyes, Overload, Love is Strange, Yes, She’s Like the Wind and, of course, (I’ve Had) The Time of My Life.

Paul Kitson was personally invited to audition and was ultimately chosen by the writer of Dirty Dancing, Eleanor Bergstein, to play Johnny Castle in the original cast of the London show back in 2006.

After being awarded the role Paul spent an intensive six months in training with ballroom and Latin champions to perfect his dance technique in addition to working with Eleanor and her creative team, before entering a twelve week rehearsal period with the cast.

Paul has been teaching since he was nineteen and has hosted over 10,000 classes and master classes worldwide.  He is a partner work specialist and the founder of the first ever professional open class in this style, debuting at Pineapple Studios in London.

  • What should I wear?

Ladies: we recommend that you wear breathable, comfortable workout/dance clothing and bring spare tops as you will work up a sweat! A simple jazz shoe, ballet flat or Latin heel will best suit this event.  However, trainers (sneakers) are also appropriate.  You are very welcome to dress up as you favourite Dirty Dancing character, in fact, we encourage this as it makes for a super fun atmosphere.  The most important factor is that you wear whatever makes you feel comfortable allowing for maximum movement.  Check out our website pics for inspiration.

Men: we recommend wearing workout trousers (gym/dance pants) and bring a spare vest or t-shirt as you will certainly be breaking into a sweat during the lift section.  Again, trainers, (sneakers) are appropriate but a jazz shoe is the best we recommend for this particular event.

All: bring with you a towel, bottled water, energy snacks, fruit, as you will be dancing a lot and although we have a break for you to grab some lunch, you may need a short burst of energy in between the cha cha and mambo!

  • Is there an age limit?

This event is suitable for adults only (17 years +)

  • I don’t have much dance experience but love the film, is it for me? / I am a semi-professional dancer, is it for me?

The beauty of this event is that it is for absolutely everyone.  Paul is an expert leader and teacher and has designed an all-inclusive format for the day.  So no matter whether you’re an absolute beginner, intermediate, professional dancer or have two left feet, he’ll have you Dirty Dancing for sure!  This is for anyone who loves the film, the soundtrack, dancing, ballroom dancing, Latin dancing, want’s to learn the authentic Dirty Dancing moves and choreography, attempt the famous lift or just immerse themselves in the world of Johnny and Baby.

  • What’s the date of the event?

‘Dirty Dancing 1963’ will take place on Saturday, 29 September 2018
